Key Scripture: Luke 15:11-32 (The Parable of the Prodigal Son)

Introduction:
Father’s Day is a special opportunity to reflect on the gift of fatherhood. The figure of a father, though imperfect, is a reflection of God’s love, guidance, and protection. In the parable of the prodigal son, Jesus teaches us what a father’s heart is like: full of compassion, mercy, patience, and forgiveness.
Main Points:
🔹 The Father as Provider:
Example: Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus (Matthew 1:18-25). He took on the responsibility of protecting and providing for his family, even when he didn’t fully understand God’s plan.
Reflection: A father is called to be a provider not just of material needs, but also of values, principles, and love within the home.
🔹 The Father as Spiritual Guide:
As Joshua declared: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15), the father is the priest of his home, leading his family in the ways of God.
Reflection: Am I guiding my family toward the Lord through my daily example?
🔹 The Father as a Reflection of Unconditional Love:
The father of the prodigal son never stopped waiting for and loving his son, despite his mistakes. This unconditional love mirrors the love of our Heavenly Father.
Reflection: How am I showing grace and patience to my children, as God shows it to me?
🔹 Celebrating Fathers:
Let us honor fathers not only for their role as providers but also for their effort in raising, loving, and teaching.
Reflection for children: Am I showing gratitude to my father for his love and dedication?
Conclusion:
A father’s heart is a gift from God meant to reveal His love here on Earth. On this Father’s Day, let’s celebrate and honor fathers, and remember that the greatest model of fatherhood is God Himself, who calls us His beloved children.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,Thank You for the gift of fatherhood—a reflection of Your faithful and eternal love. Today, on this Father’s Day, we ask You to bless all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures. Strengthen their hands and hearts to continue being examples of faith, love, patience, and sacrifice.
Help them guide their families in Your ways, planting eternal values, strong faith, and true love in their children. Lord, heal the wounds of those fathers who have failed; give them a fresh start and help them restore family relationships.
We also pray for those who feel the absence of their father today. May You comfort them and remind them they are never alone, for You are the perfect Father who is always with us.
Thank You, Lord, because we can come to You as our Heavenly Father, full of grace, mercy, and unending love.
